AE1 Global Limited ("AE1") teaches children and young people online. Keeping every child safe is our first priority. This policy explains how we protect students in our online classes and what to do if you have a concern. It applies to all teachers, staff, students and parents who use our services.

1. Our commitment

  • Every child has the right to learn in a safe, respectful and friendly environment, free from harm, bullying and abuse.
  • We follow the principles of UK safeguarding guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
  • We have a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who is responsible for this policy and for dealing with any concern. The DSL can be contacted at contact@ae-one.com.

2. Safe teachers

  • We check the identity, qualifications and references of our teachers before they teach.
  • Teachers working with UK students are expected to hold a suitable criminal record check (such as an enhanced DBS check) or the equivalent for their country.
  • Teachers follow a code of conduct and receive safeguarding guidance.

3. Safe online classes

  • Classes take place only on the platforms and class links provided by AE1.
  • Teachers communicate with students only for learning and only through approved channels. Parents are copied into or can see messages about their child.
  • Teachers will never ask a student for personal photos, home address, passwords or private social media contact.
  • Students should join from a suitable place at home (not a bedroom where possible), be appropriately dressed and keep their camera and microphone settings as the teacher asks.
  • Parents are welcome to be nearby or to check in on a class at any time.
  • Classes are not recorded or shared unless parents have been told and agreed, and any recording is kept securely and used only for learning or safety.

4. Rules for students

  • Be kind and respectful. Bullying, unkind language or sharing harmful content is not allowed.
  • Do not share your personal details, or other students' details, in class chats.
  • Do not record, photograph or screenshot other students.
  • Tell your parent, your teacher or AE1 straight away if anything online makes you feel worried or uncomfortable.

5. Reporting a concern

  • If you are worried about a child's safety or about the behaviour of anyone connected with AE1, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead at contact@ae-one.com as soon as possible.
  • All concerns are taken seriously, recorded and acted on quickly and confidentially. Where needed, we will share information with the right authorities, such as local children's services or the police.
  • If a child is in immediate danger, call 999 (UK) or your local emergency number first.
  • Other help in the UK: NSPCC helpline 0808 800 5000; Childline (for children and young people) 0800 1111.

6. Personal information and images

  • We keep student information safe and private in line with UK data protection law (UK GDPR).
  • We will never use a student's photo, video, name or results in our advertising without written permission from a parent or guardian.

7. Review

  • This policy is reviewed at least once a year, or sooner if the law or guidance changes.
